I feel your pain, as my wife and I often have the same problem. We have two little boys, but don’t feel anything at all like “average” parents. People without kids annoy me because they complain about the dumbest, most unimportant crap, and most people with kids that I meet bore the shit out of me. What can you do?

Summer, of course there isn’t a “perfect” friendship; but I would like to be able to find people with a few similar interests to hang out with! I would think that anyone would. It can be hard to really be yourself around people that don’t quite understand your interests and lifestyle. If I just started talking about how I’m having a hard time refactoring some ruby code during one of our Mom’s Night Out Dinners, I think I’d get some weird looks

Awwww! Well now that I am your friend because of Twitter … I can say that I share your feelings, sans the kids. Now that I’m out of college, I feel like most of the socializing and connecting I do outside of work is on the Internet.

Oh! I forgot to mention that Twitter has helped me become closer with friends that I don’t get to see everyday but wish I did! It gives me a window into your lives and I love that! I don’t miss the funny things that Serenity says, or the crazy clients that @nancip has, or the fun happenings at @natbug2 ’s house. I feel like I can work all day and not be out of touch with you guys when I get home. Silly, but I feel closer to you all because of Twitter!

Glad you liked my piggies. I hear what you’re saying, but there’s no one perfect friend for you. Some of my closest relationships are with people that I have the least in common with. I certainly understand what you’re saying though. Sometimes I really miss not having the time to pursue all the hobbies that I had before Jake, but working full-time doesn’t leave much time for that. That’s why I joined our playgroups - since it forces me to get out at least once a month for some “girl time” when I can let down my hair and be “me” for a few hours. Thanks for helping me do that!
